Welcome to the Princess Anne Hunt (est. 1927)
Foxhunting the Historic James River Plantations

Founded in 1927 and recognized by the Masters of Foxhounds Association (MFHA) in 1937, Princess Anne Hunt (PAH) is located in Charles City County and our Hunt Territory extends from Richmond to Williamsburg and from King William County to Suffolk.

Princess Anne Hunt is privileged to hunt the beautiful farmlands and historic plantations along the James River. We welcome visitors and if you are interested in riding with us or visiting a hunt on foot, please contact one of us.

Princess Anne Hunt meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays (Sundays during the deer hunting season) from October through March.  The Hunt maintains approximately 25 “couple” (i.e. pairs) of cross-bred fox hounds with kennels and stables located on the grounds of Sherwood Forest Plantation in the heart of the Hunt’s present day territory.

On this web site, you will find information about the history of our Hunt, the beautiful and historic fixtures that we have the privilege to hunt on and an updated calendar of exciting events.  Please look around this site to learn more and to explore membership opportunities.

As responsible stewards of the Hunt, the Board has unanimously voted to increase annual dues in order to make necessary improvements to our kennels, barn and the Huntsman's housing as well to keep pace with the rising cost of living. This is the first increase to dues in over seven years and every effort was made to keep the increases at a nominal level.

New members elected to PAH prior to October 1st will pay at the current dues level. After October 1st, newly elected members will pay at the following rates:

  • Family Membership - $450 per quarter (increase of $15/quarter)
  • Single Membership - $350 per quarter (increase of $15/quarter)
  • Hunt Supporter - $100 per quarter (increase of $5/quarter)

Celebrated artist, Lee Baskerville, is well known throughout the hunt community in Virginia.  His works are represented in both public and private collections, including the Homestead Resort, Warm Springs and Salamander Hotel, Middleburg.  Recognized by C. Hugh Hildesley, Vice President of Sotheby’s New York as “the next Sir Alfred Munnings,” Baskerville combines his love of the outdoors with his academic training as a painter to create this scene of mounted huntsman with hounds in a sun-soaked field.

Only 110 opportunities exist to win this beautiful painting!  Each ticket is being offered at $100.  You may purchase as many tickets as you would like and you need not be present to win. The drawing will be held at Princess Anne Hunt’s Opening Meet, Saturday October 26, 2019.
